How to join new medic group in Omaha

We are attempting to create a medic collective while dealing an influx of about 40 folks (so far) wanting to become medics. About 60% of our people are already EMTs, RNs, or doctors. The rest either have no experience or just first aid/CPR. Our current process:

  • No marking as a medic unless you have a buddy (one must have advanced medical training), have gone through 4 hr direct action/ H&S training or bridge training, and had a phone call directly with onboarding person or been to one of our organization meetings which reviews H&S. This has basics of consent, scene assessment, scope of practice, and eye flushing. They are limited to their scope and instructed to call for an ambulance for major medical, as police are not blocking them from coming in yet.
  • All folks with advanced medical training must complete video bridge training.
  • For all others who have done none of the above yet, they have been asked not to mark up and only do eye flushes (with instructions) and basic first aid if trained.
